"Transformer of the World" — The Crystal Skull of the ancient Incas
Upon becoming Inca emperor in 1471 A.D., Pachacutec was presented with a crystal skull known as the Paypicala. This “Transformer of the World” was a family heirloom handed down over the generations from Con-Tiki-Viracocha, or “Sea Foam,” the red-haired culture-bearer from a terrific flood, who appeared at Lake Titicaca, where he established Andean Civilization sometime in the ancient past. About three-thousand years ago, the lake began to dry up, or some seismic event more suddenly withdrew Titicaca’s shores to their present twelve-miles from Tiahuanaco.
In either case, the Paypicala was transferred to the city of Cusco, literally, the “Navel of the World,” and installed at the center of a Maltese Cross design marking the convergence of the four cardinal directions. It was housed in the Incas’ most “Holy Place,” the Huacapata, surrounded by a larger structure, the Coricancha, or “The Enclosure of Gold,” also known as the Inticancha, “The Enclosure of the Sun.” A priestess alone inside the Huacapata would enter into a deep trance-state, allowing her consciousness to resonate with energy given off by the “power stone," thereby “channeling” the gods for oracular advice.
In the “Transformer of the World,” Pachacutec envisioned the future greatness of his dynasty — and the end of time. Thus reconciled to fate, Pachacutec raised the most famous site of its kind — Machu Picchu. After his death, the mountain citadel was given to the Accla Cuna as their sacred retreat. These “Little Mothers,” or “Chosen Women” were selected from all over the Inca Empire for their high intelligence and powerful psychic talents. They comprised a privileged elite, a living library of all the high wisdom of Andean Civilization, because, like the European Druids, writing was forbidden. The Accla Cuna were also given charge of the Paypicala. It disappeared with their forced conversion to Christianity after the Spanish Conquest during the early 15th Century.
Now, after five hundred years, the Inca crystal skulls are gradually re-emerging, as 2012 rapidly approaches. Today, visitors to Machupicchu Pueblo pass a monumental statue of Pachacutec on their way to his sacred city, where the Accla Cuna were once custodians of the “Transformer of the World.” © Frank Joseph

The program takes place at two spectacular sites, Cusco, the center of the ancient Incan civilization and majestic Machu Picchu. Cusco, elevation 11,400 feet, Holy City of the Incas, is the oldest inhabited city in the Western hemisphere. When the Spaniards arrived here, the beauty of its edifices, surpassing all they had yet seen in the New World, astonished them. Gold, in the form of intricate religious symbols and artifacts, was seen everywhere.
Our stay in Cusco is centrally located, making it easy to enjoy this wonderful town where ancient, original Incan walls and cobblestone streets blend with colonial Spanish architecture.
The program continues at the legendary golden city of Machu Picchu, ingeniously located on a narrow saddle of nearly inaccessible mountains in the heart of a semi-tropical forest. It is vertically invisible from the valley floor below and stayed hidden, a closely guarded secret for over four hundred years, until its discovery by Hiram Bingham in 1911. This ancient ceremonial center consists of more than two hundred buildings, including numerous temples and altars constructed in terraces and connected by stairways carved from solid rock set in a spectacular setting within a 360-degree ring of mountain peaks. The Spaniards never found this "Holy City" of the Incas and the energy at this sacred site remains very powerful even today. © 1991 Power Places Tours, Inc.

A large adobe bricks-constructed Inca structure (200AC) and an expansive, impressive introduction to the never-ending ruins of Peru, Pachacamac is surrounded by various monuments, with temples, great pyramid, small palaces and carefully restored houses, and a spacious museum exhibiting gold artifacts, ceramics and textiles used by the ancient Peruvians. Pachacamac is best known for its durable regional and pan-Andean religious significance and is often characterized as the preeminent religious center of coastal Peru.

|
Star Sirius Crystal Skull |
Day 5/Nov. 4: Today travel to Urubamba Valley, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with high peaks of the Andes surrounding it. With the nourishing waters of the Urubamba River sweeping through on the way to mist-enshrouded Machu Picchu, it is no wonder that the ancient Incas made this valley their home. The Incas belief was that the gods live in these mountains. Take the rest of the day to relax, acclimate, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
 |
|
Ollantaytambo |
Day 6/Nov. 5: Today visit the ancient town of Ollantaytambo. This important site is situated at the end of the Sacred Valley in the midst of spectacular mountains, and we will take a while to savor their inner power and majesty. Ollantaytambo is most famous for six enormous stones so huge that some say only magical powers could have moved them there. If time allows, you will have the opportunity to browse in the colorful shops and Town Square of present-day Ollantaytambo which adjoins the ruins of the ancient city.
Then travel to the ancient Incan Village of Chincero, where the terraced farmlands of the Incas are still visible. Chincero was the main population center for the entire Sacred Valley in Incan times and today an active traditional “weaving" center. Later join a Peruvian Shaman who will do an ancient Incan ceremony and welcome blessing with the group.
 |
|
Pisac |
Day 7/Nov. 6: Visit and share in a prayer ceremony at the ancient ruins of Pisac, a superb Incan center high on the mountainside. Pisac covers an entire mountain and is located in a spectacular surrealistic mountain setting with a variegated green carpet of intact Incan terraces flowing up to the peaks. The temples here blend perfectly with their environment. The most sacred temple contains the famous “Intihuatana” stone, or “Hitching Post of the Sun.” This is speculated to have been a solar clock and astronomical and astrological calendar as well as a prayer site.
Day 8/Nov. 7: Travel to Cusco to join the main conference group arriving today. (See “Crystal Skulls International Conference” itinerary.) |

Itinerary
Day 1 /Nov. 13: Fly from Cusco to La Paz, Bolivia.
 |
|
Tiahuanaco |
Day 2/ Nov. 14: Visit mysterious Tiahuanaco driving through the Bolivian highlands where you will see the Aymara Indians’ way of life. The Aymara is one of the oldest American cultures with Carbon 14 dating it to the age of 1580 BC to 1150 AC. It is recognized by Andean scholars as one of the most important precursors to the Incan Empire. Tiahuanaco is the modern name related to the Aymara term taypiqala, meaning “stone in the center,” alluding to the belief that it lay at the center of the world.
It is considered the cradle of the American man and one of the most advanced cultures in development at that time, serving as a moral and cosmological center to which many people made pilgrimages. The main construction is the Kalasasaya Temple, “Place of the Vertical Stone,” built like a stockade with 12 foot high columns jutting upward at intervals, each of these being carved into human figures; the main stone work, the Gate of the Sun, is a valuable monument to the history of art. Some elements of the iconography spread throughout Peru and parts of Bolivia; the engravings that decorate the gate have astronomic connotations. There have been innumerable interpretations of the inscriptions of the Gate of the Sun; many of them believe it was used as a calendar.
Marvel at the Akapana pyramid which was once a seven-step pyramid measuring 200 meters on each side and standing nearly 17 meters tall. The Akapana was precisely oriented to the cardinal directions. Each of the seven levels was constructed with beautifully cut and precisely joined andesite blocks, that were faced with panels once covered with metal plaques, carvings and paintings. In the center of the Akapana’s flat summit is a small, sunken courtyard laid out in the form of a square superimposed over a perfect cross; this courtyard was also oriented to the cardinal directions. Recent excavations reveal an unexpectedly sophisticated and monumental system of interlinked surface and subterranean channels.
The Semi-subterranean Temple was studded with sculptured stone heads set into cut-stone facing walls and in the middle of the courtyard was located a now-famous monolithic “Bennett” stela, named for archaeologist Wendell C. Bennett, who conducted the first archaeological research at Tiahuanoaco in the 1930s. The Bennett stela represents a human figure wearing elaborate clothes and a crown.
View the monoliths: Pachamama, Ponce and Fraile. The largest stela, ‘Pachamama,’ whose lower body is covered with fish-heads, immediately reminds one of the Mesopotamian deity Oannes, the man-fish amphibious being who conveyed special knowledge to ancient mankind. Also see the red andesite monolith, ‘El Fraile: The Friar’, as well as the remaining smaller monolith of a bearded figure, ‘Ponce’. Later visit two of the local museums where you will enjoy the rich pottery and stone work of the Aymara.
 |
|
Island of the Sun |
Day 3/ Nov. 15: Travel from La Paz to Copacabana to board your boat to the Island of the Sun, identified as the birthplace of several revered entities, including the sun itself. A source of magnetic energy, the vortex of the earth and the cradle of the Inca Empire, the Inca couple Mano Kapac and Mama Ocllo appeared here and founded the Sun Empire.
There you will visit the Pilko Kaina ruins and enjoy a typical aptapi lunch. Pilko Kaina is a small Inca ruin built by Tupac Yupanqui. Its original purpose is still unknown, but given its location at the southeastern tip of the island, it may have the gateway to the island. Later hike to the ecolodge La Estancia where you will overnight.
Day 4/ Nov. 16: Experience a spectacular early sunrise followed by a boat ride to the Island of the Moon. There you will visit the Inak Uyu ruins, ‘The Court of Women’, and then continue by boat north to the Chincana ruins and labyrinth, site of the sacred rock where the Inca creation legend began. After a short hike to Challapampa, you will travel by boat to Challa where you will visit a cultural museum. Travel back to the Island of the Sun and hike to your ecolodge to overnight. The remainder of your afternoon is free to enjoy the peace and beauty of this magnificent island.
Day 5/ Nov. 17: This morning you will have the unique experience of sharing time with a local family and a routine day in their life. This afternoon, enjoy a fishing expedition.
Day 6/ Nov. 18: Today hike through the village of Yumani in the Garden of the Incas, where the island micro climate provides the ideal location for this garden that during the Inca times was full of Andean flowers, water and trees. The Inca Stairs were built by the Incas in order to reach the Inca Water springs, a natural water springs with three different openings. This Inca made water fountain is believed to be a source of eternal youth.
Later take a boat ride back to Copacabana to visit the famous Virgin Morena, also known as Native Madonna, its impressive Cathedral and a leisurely stroll of this beautiful town. Copacabana is the most important religious sanctuary of Bolivia; thousands of pilgrims visit every year. Travel by bus back to La Paz to overnight.
Day 7/ Nov. 19: Fly to Lima and check in for your international flight.
Day 8/ Nov. 20: Return to the U.S. today. |
Note: Itinerary subject to change.

Steve Rosley -
Crystal Skulls Keeper. Sixteen years ago, Steve had a customer named Gene who wanted crystal skulls of the best quality. Steve purchased a few for Gene and was also offered a group of 3 quartz crystal skulls, one smoky, one clear and one citrine. Steve really connected to the clear one which he decided to keep; he called it SHR. Gene returned to the store and made an offer for SHR that Steve could not refuse and he sold it to Gene. In late 2006, Steve received a call from a man in Oregon who asked if he would be interested in purchasing a collection of minerals and skulls as his brother had died and left the collection to him. Steve saw the collection and realized that it was Gene's collection and that it was Gene who had died. Steve ended up buying many of the skulls in the collection, however, did not purchase SHR. On his way back home he thought about SHR and how we all have a Universal Library Card; we can check things out of the library, and when we "check out", everything goes back the Universal Library for someone else to check out.
When Steve returned home he realized he had purchased 13 Crystal Skulls. This is the number of ancient crystal skulls it takes to create the portal to the other realities. There was an auction of part of the collection the following May and while the large skull - SHR - called to Steve, it was not included in the auction. On July 23, Steve went to the final auction for Gene's collection and purchased the skull SHR. Back in Chicago, his hometown, he meditated with it and asked it what it would like to be called. The answer: Star Sirius. Steve's soul mate Sharyl Noday told him that July 23rd was the date Sirius is closest to the earth for 55 days (the Dog Days of Summer.) Since then Steve has had Star Sirius surrounded with Selenite to clear it of all negative energy and to bring white light into it. The skull has been on the earth plane for millions and millions of years and has wonderful energy. As you place your hands on each of it's temples and close your eyes, off you go! Star Sirius is like a spiritual shortwave radio as you tune into your own station of information. It will take you out of this world and into another realm.
Steve is owner of Rosley's Rocks and Gems and the Crystalmaster's Crystal Gallery, featuring the largest selection of crystals and minerals in Chicagoland.
