ITINERARYDay 1: Depart from JFK Airport, New York to Cairo, Egypt. (Flights from other places in North America connect with the flights from New York.) Day 2: Afternoon arrival into Cairo and check into your hotel.
Day 4: Tour the famous ancient necropolis of Sakkara. Sakkara is also the site of the Step Pyramid of Zoser, considered by many to be the first pyramid. This pyramid and the massive structure around it, designed by the architect/physician Imhotep (circa 2700 B.C.), were not only the first large stone structures in the world, but today they still constitute the largest stone temple complex on earth! Day 5: Explore the Great Pyramids and Sphinx area during a walking tour of the Giza Plateau with your Egyptian guide, where you will experience the fabled Sphinx and Pyramids, and lesser-known sites as well. Optional tour inside the Great Pyramid today.* Also today take a ride on a camel or Arabian horse (your choice) into the desert for a spectacular view of all three Giza Pyramids. *Special Note: Power Places Tours has gained access time for your group for an optional visit inside the Great Pyramid! (Cost approximately $150; exact cost depends on the number of participants.) You will have up to two hours inside this wonder of the world, with all three chambers, including the fabled King's Chamber, to explore and experience. The entrance into the Great Pyramid is subject to the Egyptian government's permission and regulations
Day 6: Visit the necropolis of Abusir, home to the royal pyramid complexes of 5th Dynasty Kings. You will visit the ancient sun-temples of Abu Ghurab, also built during the 5th Dynasty when the solar cult was the State religion. Day 7: Tour the sites of Coptic (ancient Christian) and Islamic Cairo, plus a visit to a mosque. You will also visit the ancient synagogue built at the site where the baby Moses was found in the bulrushes of the Nile. Day 8: Morning departure to New York, arriving into the U.S. the same day. ITINERARY
This evening experience the Temple of Luxor. The temple's design is symbolic of the human body, reflecting the fact that the body is in turn a temple of the spirit. Day 2: Tour the magnificent temples of Karnak, the largest ancient temple complex in the world. No one sees these temples without a sense of awe and wonder at their grandeur. You will also have free time to explore Luxor, Egypt's most charming city. Day 3: Cross over the Nile to its West Bank, the "Land of the Dead". Visit the Valley of the Kings, the location of the eternal resting places of the Pharaohs. Here is where King Tut's tomb and many more were discovered. Also, tour the powerful temple of Medinet Habu, see the giant Colossi of Memnon and the exquisite Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only female Pharaoh of Egypt. Day 4: Today tour the Temple of Hathor at Denderah and experience its special energy. Hathor is the goddess of love, music, and dance.
Day 6: Experience the temple of the goddess Isis at Philae, considered by many to be the most beautiful temple of Egypt. Later, enjoy a felucca (Egyptian sailboat) ride on the Nile. Day 7: Day free in beautiful Aswan. Late in the day fly to Cairo and connect to your return flight to JFK. Day 8: Early morning departure to New York, arriving the same day.
